How To Regulate Madden 11 Tournaments For Friends
The Madden NFL syndicate is a huge outfit in the video game market. This is one of the most popular EA Sports release, be it in the XBox 360 version, Playstation, Nintendo or the PC version. It is awaited for eagerly throughout the world. Madden 11 tournaments are held throughout America and they have enthusiastic participants of various age groups. If you are thinking of hosting one of them, there are certain things you have to be aware of.
Some tournaments are played for cash rewards and prizes while others for the glory alone. If you want to host a game for friends, you would probably levy a small fee and use that to set up a cash prize. Its up to you. In the really big events, like those that are featured on television, the stakes are pretty high. The accomplished players take part in these. Any competition is credible only if fairness is assured in the proceedings and the selection of the winner. There is not a set a of standardized rules that have to be adhered to. However, most of these events follow more or less the same basic rules. If you are hosting a competition, ensure that it is fair and that all the players stick to the common rules.
One of the main rules is that on no account is a player supposed to bring his own console or controller. This is ensured so that tampering can be eliminated and all the players can start off on a level playing field. If there are any hints of tampering, either with software or hardware, you should immediately report it to the referee and punish the player. In such cases, the player is usually booted off the event. The presence of a referee is a must to make certain that there is no foul play. They have a bunch of duties. These include supervision of the game, the demeanor of players and also to see if every player complies with the dress code.
They can rule on what is the appropriate time to pause game play. Referees also should be well versed in technical details so that they can recognise any cheating attempt by the players. Especially, if the players try to take advantage of any bugs in the game. Like any other game, there are chances of technical glitches being present and the referees have to be familiar with these to ensure no player utilizes them to his advantage. Any usage of vulgar language is generally frowned upon and also abusing the referee, verbally or physically, can land the player an instant disqualification. When play is on, no interaction with the spectators is allowed. Using a headset, damaging equipment, physical abuse of referee all can land the player penalties. In extreme cases, the player can be booted. You must clearly get the rules across to the players, including the punishment for not sticking to them.
No attempts to fix the outcome of a game are tolerated. Any player attempting this has to be ousted. Depending on the magnitude of the event, other rules can be incorporated, as per the requirements. Madden 11 tournaments guidelines for online events vary from live events. The time period of play, difficulty level and game speed also has to be decided upon. Some of these factors also depend on how many players are participating.

The History of the Madden Curse
Perhaps the most highly anticipated video game every year is the Madden NFL series from EA Sports. The Madden football games took the nascent video game industry by storm, and haven't slowed down yet. It's right there for the annual NFL Draft, creating shots of players on their new teams almost instantly. Along with the game's popularity has grown a huge pro gaming industry, and now the world's top Madden players can make a living playing in tournaments or even just online. And people are known to come up with every excuse in the book in order to get out of work on the very day the game releases - making it as close to a national holiday as the video game industry is likely to get.
You might also think that players are honored and delighted to be featured on the game's cover. Ever since 1999 when John Madden started putting players on the cover instead of himself, those players seem to either perform badly or suffer serious injury.
Last year was no exception to the Madden curse, and it made it's mark in the very first week of the regular season. In 2009, there were two players on the cover for the first time in the franchise's history. It's a classic matchup that re-lives the drama of Super Bowl 43; Larry Fitzgerald of the Cardinals and Troy Polomalu of the championship Steelers. In the Steelers' first regular season game, and Troy Polomalu's first after being put on the cover of Madden 10, he injured his ankle while blocking a field goal. He missed the rest of the seson.
You'd think that the NFL would have leraned it's leason by now. Athletes are notoriously superstitious, and next time Madden comes a callin', most would be better off to just decline. As history has shown, going on the Madden NFL cover is almost guaranteed to affect a player, and probably his team, negatively.
Notable instances of the Madden NFL curse:
2002: QB Daunte Culpepper was honored with a Madden 02 cover appearance folliowing his team's final four appearance in 2000. He followed this up by missing the last five games of the 2001 season with a hurt knee, and his team missed the playoffs.
2003: Marking the beginning of the end of the "Greatest Show On Turf", Marshall Faulk of the Rams failed to rush for 1,000 yards in the 2001 season (for the first time since 1996) following his appearance on the cover of Madden 03 and his subsequent nagging ankle injury.
2004: For the third year straight, the cover athlete of Madden suffered injury. In 2003, it was QB Mike Vick, who missed the entire season due to preseason injury. Without him, the Falcons went 5-11.
2006: After taking a break in 2004, the curse was back at it for the 2005 season. Donovan Mcnabb was the cover athlete of Madden 06 and wouldn't you know, he suffered a sports hernai in week one, causing him to eventually get sidelined for the second half of the year.
That evidence is hard to refute. So, how will Drew Brees fare against the msyterious and enignmatic "Madden Curse?"
